Your Guide to the Local Jazz Scene
Join us for a Memorial Day concert experience. Be inspired by local heroes as they share their service stories, and be musically moved by performances from Sean Michael Dargan & the Talented Lads, and All That Jazz Classic Big Band. The concert will feature the soundtracks of World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam and the Gulf War.
Event is free and open to the public. Food and beverage available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the University of Wisconsin missing in Action Recovery and Identification Project.
The UW MIA Recovery and Identification Project honors the sacrifice of brave Americans who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. Our primary mission is to recover missing U.S. military personnel from past global conflicts. Additionally, we educate students and communities year-round on the importance of past national service and help bring closure to the families of the missing.
All That Jazz Big Band started in 1985 as a rehearsal band in a Middleton basement. With every dance or concert, ATJ proves what its members have learned in rehearsal – there is no better way to experience the Big Band sound than a live performance! ATJ has been a regular feature at the Madison Art Fair on the Square and Tunes at the Monona Terrace, has opened shows for Rockapella and Tom Wopat, and gained national exposure when they performed on the CBS Early Show. The band has an outreach program for the “next generation” of Jazz musicians.
