Your Guide to the Local Jazz Scene
Harry Tonchev is a jazz guitarist who is very active in Chicago and central Illinois. His high energy trio focuses on improvisational music by exploring a mixture of originals and standards from the Great American Songbook. His conversational approach to improvised music keeps audiences engaged.
Jake Rosenkalt is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, known for his muscular, warm, round hard bop aesthetic. Rosenkalt has performed and recorded with esteemed jazz musicians such as Kenny Werner, Tim Ray, Phil Grenadier, John Lockwood, Tony Malaby, Sheryl Bailey, Peter Slavov, Rick Dimuzio, and Cecil Alexander.
Tim Ipsen is a Kenosha native, and began playing bass in 6th grade. After graduating from Tremper High School, he studied music at Columbia College of Chicago and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance – Jazz Studies. He has performed extensively throughout Chicago, Milwaukee, and the Midwest. Music has taken him all over the country, Europe and China. Performance opportunities have included great jazz artists such as Jon Faddis, Cedar Walton, Curtis Fuller, Von Freeman and Marquis Hill among others.
