LAKEWAVES TRIO will be conducting a double-set, multi-hour Vibe Audit of Madison’s Up North Bar, to make sure this cozy venue has what it needs to handle the powerhouse effect of these live electric space jazz fusioneers in the future.
They’ll be gathering data at both Madison and Milwaukee venues this spring, looking for any Waste Fraud & Abuse that might be posing impediments to their ongoing world-takeover ambitions – something keyboardist Graham Marlowe a.k.a. Lakewaves refers to as an “ambient funk venture capitalist project” meant for adventurous music listeners in search of a new adventure altogether.
They’re in town tonight to promote their new full length release**, perform some tasty unreleased material and weave together a “transcendental, anthemic, ‘light-blue-collared’ medley spun from Greatest-Hits yarn” that draws on all of their first three, critically-acclaimed albums.

“Somewhere between a jazz club and a rave… Ambient electronic space jazz.” – The Marquette Wire
“Feisty, dance-ready backbeats and a propulsive jazz influence serves as a compelling motor for Lakewaves Trio.”
– Steve Spoerl, Tone Madison
“Lakewaves, a project featuring the compositions of keyboardist Graham Marlowe, can be encountered as a solo concert or as the Lakewaves Trio, with Marlowe joined by bassist Mason Aumanstal and drummer Will Bailey. In either incarnation expect impressionistic jams adjacent to jazz and rock, both composed and improvised, which in the trio form have much added groove due to the rhythm section’s presence. Be prepared to dance and maybe laugh if they announce their equally impressionistic yet humorous song titles.” – Isthmus Madison, July 11 2024
